The Appalachia Community Cancer Network (ACCN) Research Seminar, “Addressing Cancer Health Disparities in Appalachia,” is designed to highlight community-based participatory research conducted in Appalachia. I would like to invite all researchers, community leaders, cancer control advocates, public health professionals and all who are interested in understanding cancer disparities in Appalachia to attend. The research seminar will be held at Hershey Lodge in Hershey, PA, September 25 th, 2009.

This seminar will cover cancer prevention and control in Northern Appalachia through interventions in partnership with rural primary care practices, health educators, minorities and food pantries. It will focus on breast, cervical and colon cancer. These topics will be addressed in presentations from academic researchers and from members of ACCN community coalitions. I hope this seminar will encourage an exchange of ideas and inspire all those working to reduce cancer health disparities in Appalachia to continue and expand their efforts.

Sincerely,
