OHIO ACCN REGIONAL OFFICE
The Ohio ACCN Regional Office is based at the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center in Columbus, OH. The Ohio ACCN coordinates the ACCN program in Appalachian Ohio, which includes 29 counties in the east and south of the state, and focuses efforts in areas where cancer rates are especially high in the Appalachian region, including lung, cervical, and colon cancer.
The Ohio ACCN is currently working with four community-based coalitions to address cancer health disparities in the region. The four coalitions are the Cancer Concern Coalition (Muskingum, Morgan, and Perry Counties), the Fight Cancer, Save Lives…Act Now Coalition (Scioto County), the Meigs County Cancer Initiative (Meigs County), and the Women in Action Against Cancer (Jefferson County). These coalitions have an established history of successfully increasing awareness, providing education, and promoting early detection and prevention of cancer in Appalachian Ohio.
Ohio ACCN regional staff are working with the existing coalitions and partners in Appalachian Ohio to establish collaborative partnerships. In addition, the Ohio ACCN plans to identify other counties in which to develop community-based coalitions.
